As one of Japan's most innovative car manufacturers, Mazda is a name that even non-car people know. The company was founded as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. but quickly changed its focus to manufacturing vehicles after its founding. It has been making cars since 1931 with no interruptions save for during WWII when they switched gears to make rifles instead of automobiles because resources were scarce due to wartime rationing.

The Mazda R360 Coupe, the first passenger car produced by a Japanese company, was released in 1960. This was when it partnered with Wankel to produce and develop rotary engines because its competitors had given up on them during that time period of the 70s. As this was their main differentiation from other companies at that point, they have continued producing these while no one else has taken over since then!

For the future, Mazda intends to maintain its forward-thinking and experimental technology, by developing a hydrogen-powered car. The prototype has so far reached a 200 kilometres autonomy.
