Cars We Buy: Isuzu
The Isuzu is a Japanese powerhouse whose invention was born from the need for more and better vehicles to protect its people. The company has been around since 1920 but originated as Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding & Engineering Company who planned on expanding their business in 1910 when they opened shop. They crafted cars that would carry them throughout Japan with relative ease before recognizing the potential market overseas too!
Ishikawajima's first entry into the truck-making industry was followed by a partnership with Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Company. Shortly after, it obtained licensing for Wolseley automobiles from British companies, setting the foundation of Ishikwakijima’s long history as collaborators with international partners.

The '90s brought forth new achievements with the launch of the Trooper and Rodeo, the latter having won three times in a row the Alcan Winter Rally. Introduction of newer vehicles such as the Axiom and better technology like the jointly-developed Duramax injection support Isuzu in holding its privileged position on the US market. Currently part of the GM group, Isuzu is still among the largest suppliers of medium-duty commercial trucks and pickups. Apart from its vast US dealership and market share, Isuzu is widely known for its light price tags, affordability being among its vehicles main attributes.
